A: Gold filled uses a karat gold overlay which is then bonded to a brass inner core. We only use gold filled with 1/20 14K gold, meaning it is 5% 14K gold by weight with a brass code. With daily wear, it can last 10 to 30 years though the layer of gold will eventually wear off exposing the metal underneath. The layer of gold on gold-filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating.

A: You can open the hoop with a gentle twist motion. To remove hoops from the earring card, the opening of the hoop would be on the back of the earring card, carefully hold the hoop with both hands, gently pull it in opposite directions, so the hoop will keep its shape.
